 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS,  The  members   of   the   Illinois   House   of
 3    Representatives  are pleased to recognize milestone events in
 4    the history of organizations in the State of Illinois; and

 5        WHEREAS, It has come our attention  that  Painters  Local
 6    #363  in  Champaign-Urbana, Illinois is celebrating its 100th
 7    Anniversary on May 21, 2001; and

 8        WHEREAS, Painters Local #363 was  granted  a  charter  to
 9    operate  as  a  labor  union  in  the cities of Champaign and
10    Urbana, Illinois on  May  21,  1901  by  the  Brotherhood  of
11    Painters,  Decorators  and Paperhangers of America, now known
12    as the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades; and

13        WHEREAS, After having offices in several  locations  over
14    the  years,  Painters Local Union #363 purchased the building
15    at 212 South First Street in Champaign, Illinois in 1953; its
16    territorial jurisdiction was later increased to  include  the
17    counties   of  Champaign,  Vermillion,  Douglas,  Coles,  and
18    Cumberland; and

19        WHEREAS, The members of Painters Local  Union  #363  have
20    worked  on  thousands  of  projects over the years, including
21    numerous   projects   on   the   University   of    Illinois'
22    Champaign-Urbana   campus,  Eastern  Illinois  University  at
23    Charleston,  and  hospitals,  schools,  and  commercial   and
24    industrial complexes throughout its jurisdiction; and

25        WHEREAS,  Painters Local #363 Apprenticeship and Training
26    Program has been registered with the United States Department
27    of Labor since December 1941, and has been a  leader  in  the
28    training  of females and minorities in the painting industry;
29    and

30        WHEREAS, Painters  Local  #363  has  proudly  served  the
31    citizens  of  East Central Illinois with the many projects in

 1    the construction industry that it has  participated  in  over
 2    the years; therefore, be it

 3        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
 4    NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
 5    we congratulate  Painters  Local  #363  in  Champaign-Urbana,
 6    Illinois  on  the  celebration  of  its  100th anniversary of
 7    service to the citizens of East Central Illinois; and  be  it
 8    further

 9        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
10    presented to Printers Local #363  as  an  expression  of  our
11    esteem.
