1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, It is with great pride and sincere admiration
3 that the members of the Illinois House of Representatives
4 pause to recognize the significant achievements of a
5 wonderful organization dedicated to improving the lives and
6 health of others; and
7 WHEREAS, The National Coalition for Stroke Prevention
8 Awareness is working to improve the quality of life for those
9 stricken with Atrial Fibrillation and is committed to
10 long-term stroke prevention education; and
11 WHEREAS, Atrial Fibrillation is a condition in which the
12 two upper chambers of the heart quiver instead of beating
13 effectively; and
14 WHEREAS, The most common persistent cardiac arrhythmia
15 known as Atrial Fibrillation affects more than two million
16 people each year within the United States; and
17 WHEREAS, The prevalence of Atrial Fibrillation increases
18 with age, virtually doubling with each decade in persons
19 fifty years of age or older; and
20 WHEREAS, Education and stroke prevention programs can
21 play an integral role in the lives of those who suffer from
22 Atrial Fibrillation by reducing their chances of having a
23 stroke; and
24 WHEREAS, The Illinois Legislative Black Caucus and the
25 Illinois Academy of Family Physicians have teamed up with the
26 National Coalition for Stroke Prevention Awareness to
27 recognize the month of May as Stroke Awareness Month;
28 therefore, be it
29 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESERNTATIVES OF THE
30 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that

1 we unanimously join in expressing our most sincere
2 appreciation to the National Coalition for Stroke Prevention
3 Awareness as they continue to inform the public on the
4 benefits of long term stroke prevention education; and be it
5 further
6 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7 presented to the National Coalition for Stroke Prevention
8 Awareness as an expression of our esteem.
