1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The institution of marriage is one of the
3 cornerstones upon which our society is built, and a marriage
4 that has achieved a notable longevity is truly a model for
5 the people of the State of Illinois; and
6 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Mr. and Mrs.
7 John and Sharon O'Brien of Springfield, Illinois, will
8 celebrate the fortieth anniversary of their marriage; and
9 WHEREAS, John O'Brien and Sharon Fassero were united in
10 holy matrimony on May 6, 1961 at St. Agnes Church in
11 Springfield; and
12 WHEREAS, They are the loving parents of Marjorie of Long
13 Beach, California, and Polly and Bridget, both of
14 Springfield; and
15 WHEREAS, John O'Brien retired from the position of Clerk
16 of the Illinois House of Representatives after 24 years of
17 service; and
18 WHEREAS, John and Sharon O'Brien will be celebrating
19 their fortieth wedding anniversary on May 6, 2001, surrounded
20 by their family and friends; and
21 WHEREAS, The respect for marriage reaches one of its
22 highest plateaus when a couple such as John and Sharon
23 celebrate their fortieth wedding anniversary; and
24 WHEREAS, John and Sharon stand as examples of the best of
25 our society, and their love and devotion to each other and to
26 their family and friends serve as a reminder to all that hard
27 work, dedication, and love can make a difference in today's
28 world; therefore, be it
29 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
30 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that

1 we congratulate John and Sharon on the occasion of their
2 fortieth wedding anniversary; that we commend them for
3 achieving a long and happy marriage, blessed with children
4 and rich in friendships; and that we wish them happiness and
5 good health in the future; and be it further
6 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7 presented to them as an expression of our respect and esteem.
