1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to honor the Human Service Center
4 in Peoria, Illinois, as the staff prepares to celebrate
5 twenty-five years of quality care to the Peoria area; and
6 WHEREAS, The Human Service Center was established in
7 1976; the Center was started as a result of the consolidation
8 of the Comprehensive Mental Health Board of Central Illinois,
9 the Peoria Mental Health Clinic, the Stonehedge Foundation,
10 Inc., and the Peoria Area Council on Alcoholism; and
11 WHEREAS, The Human Service Center's statement of purpose
12 is "to provide a program of mental health and substance abuse
13 services which is comprehensive in scope, fully acceptable to
14 those needing these services, integrating with other social
15 and health care systems, and responsive to the current and
16 changing needs primarily of the citizens who and or work in
17 Peoria County, Illinois"; and
18 WHEREAS, By the end of the first decade, the Human
19 Service Center offered services at fourteen locations; there
20 was an operating budget of $5.2 million; and the Human
21 Service Center had received State-wide recognition as a
22 provider of health care to the mentally ill; and
23 WHEREAS, Throughout the years there have many changes in
24 the Human Service Center; there have been good times and
25 rough patches, but the Human Service Center has endured to
26 become an important and vital part of Peoria and Peoria
27 County; and
28 WHEREAS, On February 25, 2001, a dinner will be held
29 celebrating twenty-five years of service provided by the
30 Human Service Center; therefore, be it
31 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE

1 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
2 we congratulate the men and women of the Human Service Center
3 as they prepare to celebrate the organization's twenty-fifth
4 anniversary; and be it further
5 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6 presented to the staff of the Human Service Center.
