1 HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the General Assembly wish to
3 express their sincere condolences to the family and friends
4 of Mike McKean and Clint Talley, two brave firefighters in
5 the Ashton Fire Protection District, who passed away on
6 February 17, 2001, while in the line of duty; and
7 WHEREAS, On Saturday morning, February 17, 2001, Mike
8 McKean and Clint Talley were called into duty to combat a
9 housefire; upon entering the fiery scene, the first floor of
10 the flaming house collapsed into the basement on top of the
11 two firefighters; and
12 WHEREAS, Mike L. McKean was born on February 16, 1969 to
13 Michael and Cheryl McKean; he married Tonya Webb on March 31,
14 2000 in Dixon, Illinois; and
15 WHEREAS, Mike McKean was a volunteer fireman for the
16 Ashton Fire Protection District for the last two years and of
17 that time, he served as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
18 for one year; and
19 WHEREAS, The passing of Mike McKean will be deeply felt
20 by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife, Tonya;
21 his children, Zion Patrick, Adrienn Gene, and Tobi Lynn; his
22 parents, Michael and Cheryl McKean; his sister, Jolene
23 McKean; and his nieces and nephews; and
24 WHEREAS, Clint Talley was born on July 3, 1973, to Mark
25 and Diana Talley; he married Lori Kersten on May 20, 1995, in
26 Ashton, Illinois; and
27 WHEREAS, Clint Talley was a volunteer firefighter for the
28 Ashton Fire Protection District and an Emergency Medical
29 Technician (EMT) for the last five years; and
30 WHEREAS, The passing of Clint Talley will be deeply felt

1 by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife, Lori; his
2 children, Jamey and Kristin; his brother, Jason; his sister,
3 Beckie; his parents, Mark Talley and Diana Nestrojil; his
4 grandparents, Dorothy Talley, Mickey Hallstrom, and Ed and
5 Carol Sandeen; his great-grandmother, Caroline Oldenburg; his
6 niece; and his two nephews; and
7 WHEREAS, Mike McKean and Clint Talley gave their lives
8 unselfishly and unconditionally to protect the safety of the
9 citizens of the Ashton community; their loyalty and
10 dedication to their department, family and to the citizens of
11 the Ashton community are examples of what true heros are;
12 therefore, be it
13 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
14 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE
15 SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that we mourn, along with all who
16 knew them, the deaths of our fallen heros, Michael McKean and
17 Clint Talley of Ashton, Illinois; and be it further
18 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19 presented to the families of Michael McKean and Clint Talley
20 with out sincere condolences.
