1 AN ACT concerning nuclear safety.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Illinois Nuclear Safety Preparedness Act
5 is amended by changing Section 2 as follows:
6 (420 ILCS 5/2) (from Ch. 111 1/2, par. 4302)
7 Sec. 2. Public Policy. It is declared to be the policy
8 of the General Assembly to protect the people of the State of
9 Illinois against adverse health effects resulting from
10 radiological accidents by establishing a mechanism for
11 emergency preparedness to mitigate the effects of such
12 accidents. The General Assembly finds that it is appropriate
13 that the nuclear industry bear costs associated with
14 preparing and implementing plans to deal with the effects of
15 nuclear accidents. The fees assessed by this Act are intended
16 to cover the costs of the Nuclear Safety Preparedness Program
17 authorized by this Act.
