1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3 express their sincere condolences to the family and friends
4 of Gwendolyn Woods, who recently passed away; and
5 WHEREAS, Gwendolyn Woods was born in Chicago, Illinois;
6 her parents were William and Bertha Jones; Gwendolyn Woods
7 was affectionately known as "GiGi" by her friends and loved
8 ones; and
9 WHEREAS, Gwendolyn Woods accepted Jesus Christ as her
10 Savior at an early age; she was baptized by Reverend Hawkins
11 at Trinity Baptist Church; in 1977 she joined Trinity United
12 Church of Christ and became active in the Newness of Life
13 Ministry; and
14 WHEREAS, Gwendolyn Woods was a graduate of Wendell
15 Phillips High School, received an Associate's degree from
16 Wilson Junior College, and later attended Roosevelt
17 University; in 1953 she married Lorenzo Woods; she retired
18 from the Illinois Department of Public Aid in 1992, after
19 twenty-three years of service; and
20 WHEREAS, The passing of Gwendolyn Woods will be deeply
21 felt by all who knew and loved her, especially her husband,
22 Lorenzo; her children, Lance and LaShonn (husband, Shawn);
23 her grandchildren, Lorenzo, Andrea, and Sierra; her sisters,
24 LaZane (husband, Hannibal) and Betty; her brother, Marvin
25 (wife, Marianne); her aunts, Loretta (husband, Joseph), and
26 Ruby Lee; her six sisters-in-law; her brother-in-law; her
27 nieces, nephews, special sisters "Just Us", her other family
28 members, and friends; therefore, be it
29 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIRST GENERAL
30 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing
31 of Gwendolyn Woods and extend our sympathies to her family

2 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
3 presented to the family of Gwendolyn Woods.
