1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3 express their sincere condolences to the family and friends
4 of Nicholas Butera of Minonk, Illinois, who recently passed
5 away; and
6 WHEREAS, Nicholas Butera was born in Chicago on May 14,
7 1930; his parents were John and Girolama Spina Butera; on
8 November 22, 1952 he married Marifrances Zumwalt in Dallas,
9 Texas; and
10 WHEREAS, Nicholas Butera was veteran of the United States
11 Air Force, and served in the Korean War; he was a member of
12 the Minonk American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars
13 post; he was a member and an Eucharistic Minister at St.
14 Patrick's Catholic Church; and he was a Fourth Degree member
15 of the Minonk Knights of Columbus; and
16 WHEREAS, Nicholas Butera was the Mayor of Minonk from
17 1983 to 1989; he worked in the baking industry and last
18 worked as the general manager of Minonk Baking Company; Mr.
19 Butera was a former president of the Illinois Bakers
20 Association; and
21 WHEREAS, The passing of Nicholas Butera will be deeply
22 felt by all that knew him, especially his wife, Marifrances;
23 his sons, Danny (Wanda) Valentino, John Butera, Nicholas
24 Butera, and Randy (Carol) Butera; his daughter, Kathy (Eric)
25 Murray; his six grandchildren; and his three
26 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
27 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIRST GENERAL
28 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
29 all that knew him, the death of Nicholas Butera; and be it
30 further
31 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
