1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3 express their sincere condolences to the family and friends
4 of John S. Stout of Chatham, Illinois, who passed away on
5 October 20, 2000; and
6 WHEREAS, John S. Stout was born on November 12, 1919 to
7 John and Villa Mae Stout on the Stout family farm near
8 Chatham; and
9 WHEREAS, John S. Stout attended Ball Township High School
10 and the University of Illinois at Champaign, where he was a
11 member of Chi Beta fraternity; and
12 WHEREAS, after graduation, John S. Stout worked for Case
13 Farm Implement for about a year, and farmed the family land
14 for more than 50 years; and
15 WHEREAS, John S. Stout was a United States Army Veteran
16 of World War II, he was a part of the 101st Airborne that
17 was stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia; and
18 WHEREAS, John S. Stout proudly served his community and
19 beyond with his memberships to the following organizations:
20 the Chatham Elevator Board, the Sangamon County Farm Bureau
21 Board, as elder and clerk of the session for the Chatham
22 Presbyterian Church and as Ball Township assessor; he was a
23 member of American Legion Post 759 and the VFW Post 4763,
24 both of Chatham; and
25 WHEREAS, The passing of John S. Stout will be deeply felt
26 by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife of 57
27 years, Nancy "Jane" Stout; his daughters, Joan Johnson
28 Blackwell, Phyllis Stout, Melissa Stout and Janifer Day; his
29 8 grandchildren, Jo Ellen Johnson, Andrewe Johnson, Lindsay
30 Kinkade, Amanda Kinkade, Sarah Kinkade, John Scheitler,
31 Jennifer Scheitler, Phyllis Jane "PJ" Day and Joshua Day; his

1 6 great-grandchildren, Jasmine and Jordyn Scheitler, Riley
2 Elizabeth Johnson and Jonah, Ninan and Tristan Gogny; his
3 brother, R. Philemon Stout; his sister Elizabeth Ehman; and
4 his many cousins; therefore, be it
5 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIRST GENERAL
6 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
7 all who knew him, the death of John S. Stout of Chatham,
8 Illinois; and be it further
9 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10 presented to the family of John S. Stout.
