1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3 express their sincere condolences to the family and friends
4 of Mrs. Cora McGruder, who recently passed away; and
5 WHEREAS, Mrs. McGruder grew up in the Ida B. Wells
6 housing development of Chicago, and later moved to the Hyde
7 Park area; she resided in the Gresham neighborhood of Chicago
8 until her untimely passing; and
9 WHEREAS, Mrs. McGruder was a 1954 graduate of Dunbar
10 Vocational High School and attended George Williams College
11 for two years; and
12 WHEREAS, Mrs. McGruder began her career working with
13 Joseph Robichaux, 21st Ward Democratic committeeman and
14 former 34th Ward Alderman Wilson Frost; she later served as a
15 committeewoman with State Senator Emil Jones, Jr.; she held
16 positions as the State central committeewoman for the 2nd
17 congressional district and as a member of the Illinois
18 Democratic National Committee; and
19 WHEREAS, Mrs. McGruder currently served as the deputy
20 director of legislative affairs for Secretary of State Jesse
21 White; and
22 WHEREAS, The passing of Mrs. Cora McGruder will be felt
23 by all who knew and loved her, especially her son, Frenchie;
24 her daughter, Dolores Jones; her sisters, Betty Jean Clark,
25 Yvonne Bell, Pauline T. Whyte, and Dorothy Mae Thomas; her
26 three grandchildren; and the many people across the State of
27 Illinois that were touched by her life; therefore, be it
28 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIRST GENERAL
29 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
30 her many friends and family, the death of Mrs. Cora McGruder;
31 and be it further

1 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2 presented to the family of Mrs. Cora McGruder.
