1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3 to learn of the death of Linda A. DeWitt of Galesburg,
4 Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, Linda A. DeWitt was born in Galesburg on April
6 19, 1948; her parents were Lawrence and Phyllis Lundquist
7 Guenther; on September 22, 1968 she married Edward DeWitt;
8 and
9 WHEREAS, Linda A. DeWitt was a 1966 graduate of Galesburg
10 High School, and attended Carl Sandburg College; she was
11 president of Union Local 920 at Protexall for over twenty
12 years; she was chairman of the board of UNITE, Chicago and
13 United States; and
14 WHEREAS, Linda A. DeWitt was the first woman president of
15 the Galesburg Labor Temple, serving for twenty years; she was
16 chairman of the Labor Temple Bingo Board for eighteen years;
17 she was the organizer of the Labor Day Parade; and she was
18 chairman of the board for the Midwest Employees Credit Union;
19 and
20 WHEREAS, Linda A. DeWitt was a member of Women of the
21 Moose, the Knox County Democratic Women's Committee, the
22 Galesburg Image Committee, and the Galesburg Labor Management
23 Joint Committee; she served on the United Way Board and was a
24 member of Mensa; and
25 WHEREAS, The passing of Linda A. DeWitt will be deeply
26 felt by all who knew her, including her husband, Edward; her
27 son, Ethan; her daughter, Amy; her brothers, Richard and Jim
28 Guenther; and her sisters, Patty Traff, Debbie Turner, Cheryl
29 Johnson, Gayla Berryman, Sue Cordle, and Nancy Youngquist;
30 therefore, be it
31 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIRST GENERAL

1 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
2 all that knew her, the death of Linda A. DeWitt; and be it
3 further
4 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5 presented to the family of Linda A. DeWitt.
