1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3 extend their sincere condolences to the family and friends of
4 United States Navy Lieutenant Commander Michael E. Dunn, a
5 veteran of the Vietnam War; and
6 WHEREAS, Lieutenant Commander Michael E. Dunn was listed
7 as Missing in Action on January 26, 1968 after his plane
8 disappeared from radar sight during a low altitude bombing
9 mission over North Vietnam; and
10 WHEREAS, On December 9, 1999, DNA testing identified the
11 remains of Lieutenant Commander Dunn; the remains had been
12 buried in a rice paddy along with his flight bag and other
13 items; and
14 WHEREAS, The family of Lieutenant Commander Dunn is
15 extremely grateful to the Department of Graves & Registration
16 in Hawaii, the United States Department of Defense, and the
17 United States Navy for continuing to work in investigating
18 the disappearance of their loved one; and
19 WHEREAS, Lieutenant Commander Michael E. Dunn is survived
20 by his brother, Chris and his two sisters, Sharon and Cathy;
21 his father, Alexander, and his mother, Honor, preceded him in
22 death; therefore, be it
23 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIRST GENERAL
24 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we extend to the
25 family and friends of Michael E. Dunn our sincere thoughts in
26 this time of closure; to the men and women who work
27 diligently to bring about resolutions to families that still
28 wait for news about loved ones lost during a war, we extend
29 our sincere gratitude; and be it further
30 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
31 presented to the family of Lieutenant Commander Michael E.
