1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The natural heritage of Illinois consists of a
3 rich diversity of native wildlife; and
4 WHEREAS, The quality of life for Illinois citizens is
5 enriched through interactions with our native wildlife; and
6 WHEREAS, Wildlife Rehabilitation has become a respected
7 profession worldwide, committed to providing injured and
8 orphaned wild animals a chance to return to their homes in
9 the wild; and
10 WHEREAS, Licensed Wildlife Rehabilitators across Illinois
11 dedicate hours and funds to the rehabilitation of injured and
12 orphaned wildlife; and
13 WHEREAS, Licensed Wildlife Rehabilitators provide
14 critical services to the general population of Illinois
15 citizens, including protection of human health and safety,
16 natural resource education, and care and nurturing of
17 wildlife in peril; and
18 WHEREAS, Illinois citizens have a responsibility to
19 carefully sustain the diversity and health of native wildlife
20 populations; therefore, be it
21 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIRST GENERAL
22 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we hereby proclaim
23 the last Friday of April, 2000, and the last Friday of April
24 of all future years as Illinois Wildlife Rehabilitation Day
25 in the State of Illinois, and we urge all citizens to
26 celebrate Illinois Wildlife Rehabilitation Day and to support
27 efforts to protect and care for our native Illinois wildlife;
28 and be it further
29 RESOLVED, That we urge all citizens to become aware of
30 the rich diversity of Illinois native wildlife through

1 natural resource education programs and we further urge all
2 citizens to donate funds and service to the rehabilitation of
3 native Illinois wildlife.
