1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate were saddened to learn
3 of the death of Judge Jack Hoogasian on Friday, September 17,
4 1999; and
5 WHEREAS, Judge Jack Hoogasian served as Circuit Court
6 Judge of the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit for eighteen years
7 and served as Lake County State's Attorney for eight years;
8 and
9 WHEREAS, He was born on April 18, 1925, the son of Sarah
10 and George Hoogasian; he served in the Army Air Corps from
11 1943 to 1946; he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in
12 Economics at the University of Illinois and a Juris Doctorate
13 from the John Marshall Law School; and
14 WHEREAS, Prior to being elected the Lake County State's
15 Attorney in 1968, he served as an Assistant State's Attorney
16 for ten years; in 1980, he was elected as a Circuit Court
17 Judge and served as Chief Judge from 1983 to 1984; and
18 WHEREAS, He served as President of and on the Board of
19 Directors of the Illinois Judges Association and as
20 Vice-President of and on the Board of Directors of the
21 National District Attorneys Association; he was also
22 Treasurer of and on the Board of Directors of the Illinois
23 State's Attorney Association; and
24 WHEREAS, He was an active member of the American Bar
25 Association; the Illinois State Bar Association, Professional
26 Conduct Committee; the Lake County Bar Association; the
27 Armenian Bar Association; YMCA Camp Jorn; and the Illinois
28 Police Association; he was also involved in St. Michael's
29 Mission in Ethete, Wyoming, through the Church of the Holy
30 Spirit in Lake Forest; and
31 WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents and his

1 sister, Margaret Rose McCann; and
2 WHEREAS, His passing will be deeply felt by his family
3 and friends, especially his wife, Claudia Aho Hoogasian; his
4 daughters, Sara Pickus, Amy Hoogasian, and Mary Hoogasian;
5 his son, Greg Hoogasian; his son-in-law, Louis Pickus; and
6 his grandchildren, Rachel and Jack Pickus; therefore, be it
7 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIRST GENERAL
8 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we note with sorrow
9 and regret the death of Judge Jack Hoogasian and extend our
10 sincere condolences to his family and friends; and be it
11 further
12 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13 presented to his widow, Mrs. Claudia Aho Hoogasian.
