1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3 to learn of the death of Henry V. "Jeff" Jeffers, who
4 recently passed away; and
5 WHEREAS, Henry Jeffers was born in North Chicago,
6 Illinois on September 11, 1926; Mr. Jeffers owned and
7 operated Jeff's Stylist Shop in Waukegan; and
8 WHEREAS, Henry Jeffers was a graduate of Waukegan
9 Township High School Class of 1944; Henry Jeffers served with
10 the United States Navy during World War II; he was the
11 founder of the National Association of USS LCS(L) 1-130
12 (Little Ships), World War II Veterans Association; and
13 WHEREAS, Mr. Jeffers goal was to bring back a landing
14 craft support ship (LCS 102) from Thailand; Thailand had been
15 given the ship by the U.S. Navy after World War II; the ship
16 was called a "suicide ship" because it was used to protect
17 amphibious landings and form a protective circle around
18 cruisers and destroyers; the Little Ship will be docked in a
19 Boston Harbor shipyard this fall, thus fulfilling Mr. Jeffers
20 dream; and
21 WHEREAS, He was a member of the Knights of Columbus (4th
22 Degree), the Waukegan Moose Club, the Waukegan Elks Club, the
23 City Club of Waukegan, and Immaculate Conception Church of
24 Waukegan; and
25 WHEREAS, Henry Jeffers is survived by his wife of 52
26 years, June; his daughters, Joan Cook and Jane (James) Moore;
27 and his four grandchildren, Ian and Alison Cook, and Nathan
28 and Nicholas Moore; therefore, be it
29 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIRST GENERAL
30 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
31 all his family and friends, the death of Henry Jeffers of

1 Waukegan; may all that knew him find comfort at this time of
2 loss; and be it further
3 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
4 presented to the family of Henry Jeffers.
