1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate were saddened to learn
3 of the recent death of Julia Duncker of Downers Grove; and
4 WHEREAS, Julia was a sixteen year old sophomore at Lemont
5 Township High School, where she played soccer and ran in
6 track before her illness; she was the daughter of Barbara and
7 Jerry Duncker; and
8 WHEREAS, A role model for the other students, she went to
9 school, even if it took her three hours to get dressed in the
10 morning and even if she could stay in class only briefly; and
11 WHEREAS, Last year her peers at the high school held a
12 benefit in her honor, raising about $9,000 for her medical
13 bills and a trip to Hawaii; and
14 WHEREAS, She organized a Beanie Baby drive for
15 cancer-stricken youngsters at Hope Children's Hospital in Oak
16 Lawn; and
17 WHEREAS, She faced much difficulty and hardship during
18 the last three years of her illness and faced the challenges
19 she met with courage and a smile; and
20 WHEREAS, Her passing will be deeply felt by her family
21 and friends, especially her parents, Barbara and Jerry; her
22 brother, Matthew; and her grandparents, Robert and Millie
23 Gorman and Conrad and Meredith Duncker; therefore, be it
24 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIRST GENERAL
25 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we note with sorrow
26 and regret the death of Julia Duncker and extend our sincere
27 condolences to her family and friends; and be it further
28 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
29 presented to her parents, Barbara and Jerry Duncker.
