1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3 express their sincere sympathies to the family and friends of
4 Mary Welton, who recently passed away; and
5 WHEREAS, Mary Welton was born on January 25, 1912; her
6 parents were Ray and Mary Dixon, and she was a descendant of
7 early pioneers of Lake County; in 1937 she married Arthur D.
8 Welton; and
9 WHEREAS, Mary Welton was a lifelong resident of Gurnee;
10 she taught primary classes at the Beach Road School; she was
11 a member of the Gurnee Community Church and the Ruth Circle;
12 and
13 WHEREAS, Mary Welton is remembered for her participation
14 in piano-organ duets several years ago; she was a charter
15 member of the Warren Township Historical Society, a charter
16 member of the Gurnee Woman's Club, and a member of the
17 Friends of the Warren-Newport Library; when her children were
18 active in school, she was a faithful member of the Gurnee
19 Grade School P.T.A.; in 1953 she and her husband started a
20 grocery business; and
21 WHEREAS, Mary Welton is survived by her sons, Arthur
22 Welton, Mayor Richard (Debby) Welton, Harold Welton, and
23 William (Annette) Welton; her daughters, Maryann (Dr.
24 Manooch) Sharifi, Martha (Marvin) Schmidt, Sara (Al) Hancock,
25 and Nancy (James) Hayner; her grandchildren, Mithra (Gary)
26 Ballesteros, Dr. Nader (Cathy) Sharifi, Malisa (Dr. Jeff)
27 Hagan, Monique Sharifi, David Welton, Rebecca (Mark) Willard,
28 Amy Welton, Natalie (Ross) Ellis, Richard (Maria) Welton,
29 Stacy (Owen) Evans, Brett Schmidt, Kristan Welton, Hillary
30 Welton, Bud (Charity) Schmidt, Marnie Schmidt, Nathan Welton,
31 Jennifer Welton, A.G. Hancock, Courtney Hancock, Kathryn Mary
32 Hayner, and Daniel Hayner; her great-grandchildren, Nicholas,

1 Walter, Henry, and George Ballesteros, Graham Hagan, Erika
2 Ellis, Liam Evans, Matthew Talarek, and Audrey Schmidt; her
3 sister, Ethel Quedenfeld; her brothers, Judge LaVerne (Ruth)
4 Dixon, Thomas (Irma) Dixon, and Robert (Jeanne) Dixon; her
5 sisters-in-law, Dorothea Dixon, Eloise Daydif, and Dot
6 (Ralph) Miller; and her brother-in-law, Frank Welton;
7 therefore, be it
8 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIRST GENERAL
9 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
10 her family and friends, the death of Mary Welton of Gurnee;
11 may they find solace in this time of longing; and be it
12 further
13 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14 presented to the family of Mary Welton.
