1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate were saddened to learn
3 of the death of Sergeant 1st Class Rodney E. Davis, of Fort
4 Knox, Kentucky, formerly of Galesburg, on Sunday, March 21,
5 1999, in Seoul, South Korea; and
6 WHEREAS, Sergeant Davis died during a training mission
7 when the fighting vehicle he commanded accidentally rolled
8 over; and
9 WHEREAS, He was born in Galesburg on June 21, 1959, the
10 son of Cecil E. and Marilyn Moody Davis; he graduated from
11 Galesburg High School and attended Carl Sandburg College; and
12 WHEREAS, He was a member of the Central Congregational
13 Church in Galesburg; and
14 WHEREAS, A career serviceman, he had served in the Army
15 since 1977; he also was a member of the 10th Missouri Cavalry
16 and the 42nd Indiana Volunteer Infantry Company H, both Civil
17 War re-enactment groups; and
18 WHEREAS, His passing will be deeply felt by his family
19 and friends, especially his wife, Sherry; his daughters,
20 Emily, Amy, and Sarah; his parents, Cecil and Marilyn; his
21 brothers, Ken and Cecil; and his sister, Sherryl; therefore,
22 be it
23 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIRST GENERAL
24 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we note with sorrow
25 and regret the death of Sergeant 1st Class Rodney E. Davis
26 and extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends;
27 and be it further
28 RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
29 presented to the family of Sergeant 1st Class Rodney E.
30 Davis.
