 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS,  The  members   of   the   Illinois   House   of
 3    Representatives  wish to express their sincere condolences to
 4    the family and friends of John Hickey,  who  recently  passed
 5    away; and

 6        WHEREAS,  John  Hickey was born and raised in the town of
 7    Brosna, County Kerry, Ireland; he migrated  from  Ireland  to
 8    Chicago  in  1963; he first worked as a fireman and oiler for
 9    Fireman and Oiler Local 7 at Sears,  Roebuck  &  Company;  he
10    then went to work for Local 399; and

11        WHEREAS,  He rose in the ranks at Local 399 to become the
12    chief operating engineer of facilities in Cook County; he was
13    assigned to various buildings around the  Chicago  area;  Mr.
14    Hickey also served on the executive board of Local 399; and

15        WHEREAS, John Hickey was a member of the Ancient Order of
16    Hiberians,  Kerry  Social  and Benevolent Association, Gaelic
17    Park,  the  Limerick  Association,  and  the  Irish  American
18    Alliance; and

19        WHEREAS, Mr. Hickey was an avid golfer and  a  member  of
20    several golf clubs; and

21        WHEREAS,  John  Hickey was a devoted husband, father, and
22    grandfather; and

23        WHEREAS, The passing of John Hickey will be felt  by  all
24    who  knew  him,  especially  his  wife of twenty-eight years,
25    Mary; his daughter, Mary;  his  sons,  Timothy,  Dennis,  and
26    John; and his grandchildren; therefore, be it

27        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
28    NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS,  that
29    we  mourn the passing of John Hickey, and extend our sympathy
30    to his family and friends at this time; and be it further
