1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of this House are pleased and
3 honored to recognize significant achievements in the lives of
4 individuals of this great State; and
5 WHEREAS, Fire Chief Donald C. Wright is celebrating his
6 25th year as Chief of the Mt. Zion Fire District on April 10,
7 2000; and
8 WHEREAS, Born in 1948 and raised in Mt. Zion, Donald
9 Wright graduated from Mt. Zion High School; in the summer of
10 1964, he became a second generation firefighter, following
11 his father and brothers, by joining the Mt. Zion Fire
12 District as a volunteer firefighter; and
13 WHEREAS, Donald Wright joined the United States Army in
14 1967 and served in Vietnam in 1968-1969; and
15 WHEREAS, On April 10, 1975, Donald Wright accepted the
16 promotion to Fire Chief to become only the third fire chief
17 in the history of the Mt. Zion Fire District; and in 1981,
18 Chief Wright accepted the first full-time position with the
19 Fire District; and
20 WHEREAS, Chief Wright is an active member of the Central
21 Illinois Fire Chiefs Association; and
22 WHEREAS, Chief Wright has received the Fire Department's
23 Medal of Valor for distinguishing himself in the line of duty
24 on October 9, 1992 at a natural gas pipeline explosion and
25 fire on US 51 south of Elwin; and
26 WHEREAS, The anniversary will be celebrated at a Surprise
27 Reception honoring Chief Donald C. Wright on April 4, 2000 at
28 the Mt. Zion Lions Club Center; therefore, be it
29 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
30 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that

1 we congratulate Fire Chief Donald C. Wright on his 25th year
2 as Chief of the Mt. Zion Fire District and applaud his
3 devotion to his community; and be it further
4 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5 presented to Fire Chief Donald C. Wright.
