1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to recognize milestones within
4 the State of Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, The Greenville Free Methodist Church is
6 celebrating 100 years at its present location, at the corner
7 of College and Elm Streets in Greenville, Illinois; and
8 WHEREAS, The church was started in Greenville in 1880,
9 twenty years after the formation of the Free Methodist
10 denomination in Pekin, New York; the first building was on
11 the corner of Prairie and Vine Streets in Greenville, and in
12 1899 moved to the present location; in the 1960's the old
13 church building and parsonage were torn down and replaced by
14 the new church and adjacent education building; and
15 WHEREAS, The Greenville Free Methodist Church is home for
16 the Greenville College chapel services; located across the
17 street from Greenville College, the church and school share
18 many programs and events together; the city of Greenville is
19 also home for the Free Methodist Gateway Conference
20 headquarters, formerly the Central Illinois Conference; and
21 WHEREAS, Pastor Leslie L. Krober is the current minister
22 at the Greenville Free Methodist Church; Greg Groves is the
23 youth pastor and Gary Mulholland is the pastor of
24 discipleship ministries; therefore, be it
25 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
26 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
27 we congratulate the congregation and staff of the Greenville
28 Free Methodist Church on the celebration of 100 years at the
29 corner of College and Elm Streets in Greenville, Illinois;
30 and be it further
31 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be

1 presented to Pastor Leslie Krober, to be shared with his
2 congregation.
