 1        AN  ACT  to  amend  the Election Code by changing Section
 2    1-2.

 3        Be it enacted by the People of  the  State  of  Illinois,
 4    represented in the General Assembly:

 5        Section  5.   The  Election  Code  is amended by changing
 6    Section 1-2 as follows:

 7        (10 ILCS 5/1-2) (from Ch. 46, par. 1-2)
 8        Sec. 1-2.  Continuation of prior laws.    The  provisions
 9    of  this  Act,  so  far  as they are the same as those of any
10    prior statute, shall be construed as a continuation of  those
11    such prior provisions, and not as a new enactment.
12        If  in  any  other statute reference is made to an Act of
13    the General Assembly, or a Section of such an Act, that which
14     is continued in this Election Code, the such reference shall
15    be held to refer to the Act or Section thereof  so  continued
16    in this Code.
