1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3 to learn of the death of Ernest "Bill" W. Swegler of
4 Hinsdale, Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, Mr. Swegler was born on July 29, 1923 in
6 Cleveland, Ohio; Mr. Swegler graduated in 1941 from
7 University School and received his Bachelor's Degree in
8 Chemistry from Princeton University in 1945; Mr. Swegler
9 served with the United States Navy during World War II; after
10 his time in the Navy he went on to receive his Master's
11 Degree in Physical Chemistry from Cornell University; and
12 WHEREAS, Mr. Swegler was employed in the research and
13 developments departments of Socony Vacuum (Mobil Oil) and
14 Nalco Corporation; and
15 WHEREAS, Mr. Swegler was active in politics and community
16 service; he worked with organizations such as the Young
17 Republicans, the Hinsdale Jaycees, the S.C.C.A., and the John
18 Ericsson Republican League of Illinois; he served on the
19 DuPage County Board from 1969 to 1971; and he served as a
20 Republican precinct committeeman for 25 years; and
21 WHEREAS, Mr. Swegler is survived by his longtime
22 companion, Charlotte Utley; his children, Nancy Blake Anthony
23 and her husband Robert, and Jeffrey Foster and his wife
24 Terri; his grandchildren, Drew, Graham, Blake, and Bianca;
25 and his sister, Laura Warner; therefore, be it
26 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY
27 OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we send our sincere
28 condolences to the family and friends of Ernest "Bill"
29 Swegler of Hinsdale; may they find peace and comfort in this
30 time of need; and be it further
31 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
