230 ILCS 5/49 from Ch. 8, par. 37-49
Amends the Illinois Horse Racing Act of 1975. Provides
that moneys deposited in the Agricultural Premium Fund for
purposes of the Hambletonian Stakes shall be derived from the
third and fourth races conducted during each harness racing
meeting regardless of the number of races on the program (now
derived from the third and fourth races conducted on Friday
and Saturday during each harness racing meeting with a
program that has at least 11 races.

1 AN ACT to amend the Illinois Horse Racing Act of 1975 by
2 changing Section 49.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Illinois Horse Racing Act of 1975 is
6 amended by changing Section 49 as follows:

8 Sec. 49. The General Assembly declares that it is the
9 policy of this State to foster the running of the
10 Hambletonian Stakes in Illinois. Should the Hambletonian
11 stakes no longer be run in Illinois then it is the policy of
12 the State to foster a race or races at the DuQuoin State
13 Fair, the Illinois State Fair, and the Illinois county fairs
14 for the benefit of the harness horse racing industry. In
15 order to further this policy, the Board shall keep a record
16 of the moneys deposited in the Agricultural Premium Fund
17 which are derived from the third and fourth races conducted
18 on each Friday and Saturday during each harness racing
19 meeting licensed under this Act, provided that each such
20 Friday and Saturday program has at least 11 races. Each year,
21 from the moneys in the Agricultural Premium Fund provided
22 from such races, an appropriation shall be made to the
23 Department of Agriculture to be used to supplement the purses
24 offered for, and for other expenses in connection with, the
25 Hambletonian Stakes or other harness races as authorized in
26 this Section.
