35 ILCS 200/14-30
Amends the Property Tax Code. Provides that copies of
complaints, supporting documents, and other evidence
submitted by a complainant, and all public records of the
chief county assessment officer shall be available to any
person for reasonable fees established by the chief county
assessment officer (now for a fee of 35 cents per page of
legal size or smaller and $1 for each larger page). Effective
immediately.

1 AN ACT to amend the Property Tax Code by changing Section
2 14-30.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Property Tax Code is amended by changing
6 Section 14-30 as follows:
7 (35 ILCS 200/14-30)
8 Sec. 14-30. Hearings on revisions or corrections; public
9 records. In all counties, all hearings held by the chief
10 county assessment officer in support of or in opposition to a
11 proposed revision or correction in assessed valuation shall
12 be open to the public. All files maintained by the chief
13 county assessment officer relating to the assessed valuation
14 of any property, and all complaints, supporting documents,
15 and other evidence submitted by the complainant shall be
16 available for public inspection during regular office hours
17 of the chief county assessment officer.
18 If a property owner wishes to support his or her request
19 for a revision or correction of valuation by facts set forth
20 in income tax returns, he or she shall submit the entire
21 return to the chief county assessment officer. However, only
22 the portions of the return relating to the property for which
23 a revision or correction is requested shall be a public
24 record. If requested by the chief county assessment officer,
25 the property owner shall execute a consent in favor of the
26 chief county assessment officer instructing the taxing body
27 with which the income tax return was filed to furnish a
28 certified copy of the return so that the accuracy of the copy
29 submitted to the chief county assessment officer may be
30 verified.
31 The chief county assessment officer shall promptly

1 furnish to any person copies of all complaints, supporting
2 documents and other evidence submitted by a complainant,
3 subject to the foregoing qualification, and all public
4 records of the chief county assessment officer for reasonable
5 fees established by the chief county assessment officer a fee
6 of 35 cents per page of legal size or smaller and $1 for each
7 larger page.

9 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
10 becoming law.
