 1                    AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 703
 2        AMENDMENT NO.     .  Amend Senate Bill 703 on page  1  by
 3    replacing lines 15 through 17 with the following:
 4    "the  same  extent  as  public  utilities  under  the  Public
 5    Utilities  Act.  During the consideration of any petition for
 6    authority  to  exercise  the  power  of  eminent  domain  the
 7    Illinois Commerce Commission  shall  evaluate  and  give  due
 8    consideration  to  the impact of the acquisition on farmlands
 9    in the State with the goal of  preserving  the  land  to  the
10    fullest  extent  reasonably  possible.  Except  as  otherwise
11    provided in this Division, a".
