1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to congratulate David Marty on his
4 retirement as Fayette County treasurer; and
5 WHEREAS, David Marty was one of nine children born to A.
6 Carl and Leola Russell Marty; Mr. Marty was born in Ramsey,
7 Illinois, in 1931; David had a twin sister, Donna, who was
8 killed, leaving behind four children; David's mother raised
9 the four children as her own, and David considers them
10 brothers and sisters; in addition to his other siblings; and
11 WHEREAS, David Marty graduated from Ramsey High School in
12 1950, and went on to work with his father with Shell Oil; he
13 also worked at a funeral home in Ramsey and McCracken Funeral
14 Home in Pana; in addition he served as a substitute rural
15 mail carrier before becoming Fayette County treasurer; and
16 WHEREAS, David Marty ran for his first office in 1968,
17 winning a trustee's seat on the Ramsey Village Board; he was
18 on vacation in Connecticut when he made the decision to run
19 for the office of treasurer; on December 1, 1970 he received
20 the opportunity to serve Fayette County as treasurer, a
21 position he has held since that day; and
22 WHEREAS, David Marty is active in St. Joseph's Catholic
23 Church in Ramsey, has served as a director of the Fayette
24 County United Fund, as a fire chief for the Ramsey Fire
25 Department, as president of the Vandalia Rotary Club, and as
26 a member of the Fayette County Board of Health; Mr. Marty has
27 also been a Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus; and
28 WHEREAS, David Marty plans to spend his retirement in the
29 company of his mother, who has worked many years keeping a
30 scrapbook on her son and his accomplishments; he will also
31 work for Hohlt & File Funeral Home, and will enjoy fishing

1 and golf; therefore, be it
2 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
3 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
4 congratulate David Marty on a job well done as Fayette County
5 Treasurer; our best wishes are with him as he enjoys his
6 retirement; and be it further
7 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8 presented to David Marty, along with our sincere regards.
