1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to honor a very special soldier who
4 recently passed away, SFC John A. Fasano; and
5 WHEREAS, For over twenty years, SFC John Fasano served
6 his country in the United States Army; with only an eighth
7 grade education, John Fasano enlisted into the Army, where he
8 would serve his country during World War II, the Korean War,
9 and the Vietnam War; he spent his last months of active duty
10 at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, where he was selected to
11 serve as an Honor Guard to escort home those who lost their
12 lives in Vietnam; and
13 WHEREAS, While serving his country, SFC John Fasano
14 earned several commendations including: while serving in
15 World War II he earned the Bronze Star, and a Purple Heart
16 with clusters; he earned a second Bronze Star while serving
17 in Korea, as well as a Purple Heart for wounds he suffered in
18 the war; he is honored at the National Infantry Museum in Ft.
19 Benning, Georgia, where his name appears with only 296 other
20 individual names, signifying his honor at receiving the
21 Combat Infantry Badge on three occasions; and
22 WHEREAS, Upon his retirement from the service, SFC John
23 Fasano continued to work to support his wife and four
24 daughters; as a man proud of his country, he instilled these
25 same values into his children; he was fiercely devoted to the
26 Army and to the United States, and his example should
27 strengthen all of us; and
28 WHEREAS, SFC John Fasano is survived by his loving and
29 caring wife, Elisa; his four daughters, Rose Volkert, Anita
30 Stanis, Doris Overman, and Linda Fasano; he is also honored
31 with seven grandchildren; John Fasano is remembered by his
32 fellow soldiers, and by the people of the State of Illinois;

1 therefore, be it
2 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
3 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
4 mourn, along with his family and friends, the death of
5 Sergeant First Class John A. Fasano of Glen Ellyn, Illinois;
6 and be it further
7 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8 presented to the family of SFC John Fasano, along with our
9 deepest sympathy.
