65 ILCS 5/11-8-2 from Ch. 24, par. 11-8-2
Amends the Illinois Municipal Code. Provides that a
municipality shall allow churches, not for profit entities,
volunteer or charitable organizations, or similar entities to
install residential grade stoves, ovens, ranges, and hoods in
their kitchens to serve their own memberships.

1 AN ACT to amend the Illinois Municipal Code by changing
2 Section 11-8-2.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Illinois Municipal Code is amended by
6 changing Section 11-8-2 as follows:
7 (65 ILCS 5/11-8-2) (from Ch. 24, par. 11-8-2)
8 Sec. 11-8-2. Fire or heating apparatus. The corporate
9 authorities of each municipality may prevent the dangerous
10 construction, installation and condition of chimneys,
11 fireplaces, hearths, stoves, furnaces, pipes, ovens, boilers,
12 fuel conduits, electric wiring, and any other fire or heating
13 apparatus used in and about any building, structure, or camp
14 accommodating persons in house trailers, house cars, and, if
15 such enumerated are in a dangerous condition may cause them
16 to be removed or placed in a safe condition. The corporate
17 authorities also may cause all buildings and enclosures that
18 which are in a dangerous fire condition to be put in a safe
19 fire condition, may regulate and prevent the carrying on of
20 factories that are dangerous in causing or promoting fires,
21 and may prevent the deposit of ashes in places that create a
22 fire hazard.
23 The corporate authorities of a municipality shall adopt
24 ordinances to allow churches, not-for-profit entities,
25 volunteer or charitable organizations, or similar entities to
26 install in their kitchens residential grade stoves, ovens,
27 ranges, and hoods to serve their own memberships instead of
28 requiring the installation of commercial or industrial grade
29 stoves, ovens, ranges, or hoods.
