Amends the Illinois Act on the Aging. Changes from 2 to
3 the maximum number of consecutive terms a citizen member of
the Council on Aging may serve. Effective immediately.

1 AN ACT to amend the Illinois Act on the Aging by changing
2 Section 7.05.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Illinois Act on the Aging is amended by
6 changing Section 7.05 as follows:
7 (20 ILCS 105/7.05) (from Ch. 23, par. 6107.05)
8 Sec. 7.05. Of the citizen members first appointed, as
9 designated by the Governor at the time of each appointment,
10 seven citizen members shall serve on the Council for a term
11 of one year, seven citizen members shall serve for a term of
12 two years, and nine citizen members shall serve for a term of
13 three years. Any member appointed to fill a vacancy occurring
14 prior to the expiration of the term for which his predecessor
15 was appointed shall be appointed for the remainder of such
16 term. Upon the expiration of the initial terms set forth
17 herein, subsequent terms shall be for a period of three
18 years. Members shall be eligible for reappointment. However,
19 citizen members shall not serve more than 3 two consecutive
20 terms. This amendatory Act of 1985 shall not apply to
21 members of the Council holding office on the effective date
22 of this amendatory Act of 1985.

24 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
25 becoming law.
