105 ILCS 5/2-3.84a new
Amends the School Code. Requires all unexpended amounts
appropriated for FY97 to the State Board of Education for the
ordinary and contingent expenses of the Teachers' Academy for
Math and Science in Chicago and all amounts appropriated for
that purpose in any subsequent fiscal year to be distributed
in a lump sum by the State Board of Education or other State
agency to which the appropriation is made to the Chicago
School Reform Board of Trustees or its successor for its use
in operating and maintaining the Chicago public schools.

1 AN ACT to amend the School Code by adding Section
2 2-3.84a.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section
6 2-3.84a as follows:
7 (105 ILCS 5/2-3.84a new)
8 Sec. 2-3.84a. Distribution of appropriations. All
9 amounts appropriated to the State Board of Education under
10 Section 125 of Article 80 of Public Act 89-501 for the
11 ordinary and contingent expenses of the Teachers' Academy for
12 Math and Science in Chicago that remain unexpended at the
13 close of business on the effective date of this amendatory
14 Act of 1997 shall be distributed immediately by the State
15 Board of Education in a lump sum to the Chicago School Reform
16 Board of Trustees for its use in operating and maintaining
17 the Chicago public schools. Any amounts that are hereafter
18 appropriated in any fiscal year to the State Board of
19 Education or any other agency of State government for the
20 ordinary and contingent expenses or other use and benefit of
21 the Teachers' Academy for Math and Science in Chicago shall
22 be distributed promptly by the State Board of Education or
23 other agency of State government to which the appropriation
24 is made to the Chicago School Reform Board of Trustees or its
25 successor for its use in operating and maintaining the
26 Chicago public schools.
27 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
28 becoming law.
