    Sec. 16. Inactive Licenses. Any physical therapist or physical therapist assistant who notifies the Department in writing on forms prescribed by the Department, may elect to place the physical therapist's or physical therapist assistant's license on an inactive status and shall, subject to rules of the Department, be excused from payment of renewal fees until the physical therapist or physical therapist assistant notifies the Department in writing of the desire to resume active status.
    Any physical therapist or physical therapist assistant requesting restoration from inactive status shall be required to pay the current renewal fee and shall be required to restore the license, as provided in Section 15 of this Act.
    Any physical therapist or physical therapist assistant whose license is in an inactive status shall not practice physical therapy in the State or present oneself as a physical therapist or physical therapist assistant as that practice shall be deemed unlicensed practice.
