(20 ILCS 4118/5) (Section scheduled to be repealed on July 1, 2026) Sec. 5. Findings. The General Assembly finds that: (1) Renewable energy is a critical component of the |
| State's transition to 100% clean energy by 2050.
(2) The State has made it a priority to catalyze the
| development of wind and solar generated electricity and energy storage systems through various incentive programs.
(3) Wind and solar electric generating equipment and
| energy storage systems have a limited economically productive lifespan.
(4) At the end of life of a wind turbine, solar
| panel, or energy storage system, there are a number of recyclable components including various raw materials.
(5) The State should develop an end of life plan to
| recycle the components of renewable energy generating equipment and energy storage equipment to avoid pollution and material waste.
