| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Helen A. Ballantyne of Springfield, who |
| 4 | | passed away on November 3, 2016 at the age of 94; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Helen Ballantyne was born in Carbondale to Oren |
| 6 | | and Ruth Crawshaw Bell on January 30, 1922; she married Kelso |
| 7 | | Joseph Ballantyne in Memphis, Tennessee on March 20, 1943; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Helen Ballantyne attended Southern Illinois |
| 9 | | University Carbondale; she and her husband built and owned the |
| 10 | | Surf Club of Springfield; she was a member of the Christian |
| 11 | | Science Church; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Hellen Ballantyne was a wonderful seamstress; she |
| 13 | | also enjoyed playing tennis and traveling with her husband; |
| 14 | | Helen was strong-willed and spirited; she had her pilot's |
| 15 | | license before she had her driver's license; and |
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Helen Ballantyne was predeceased by her husband of |
| 17 | | 61 years, Kelso; her parents; and her grandson, Adam Stetson; |
| 18 | | and |
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Helen Ballantyne is survived by her son, Kelso R. |
| 20 | | (Bonnie) Ballantyne; her former daughter-in-law, Nancy |
