SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Floyd L. Nolan of Peoria, who passed away on May 17, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Floyd Nolan was born in Peoria to Fred Earl and Dorothy Louise (Thompson) Nolan on July 29, 1934; he married Charlotte Jean Lonsdale on June 9, 1956; he later married Bernadine Hughes on August 28, 1994 in Peoria; and

WHEREAS, Floyd Nolan had worked many years as a self-employed plaster contractor; and

WHEREAS, Floyd Nolan was a member of the Twin Oaks Missionary Baptist Church in East Peoria; he was very involved with his community and served as his neighborhood advocate for over 20 years; he also served as the President of the Day Spring Park Columbia Terrace North Neighborhood Association and was a member of the West Bluff Council and the Peoria Neighborhood Alliance Association; and

WHEREAS, Floyd Nolan enjoyed gardening and participated in community gardening so that he could help others in need; he also loved to fish; and

WHEREAS, Floyd Nolan was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; two sisters; and one great-grandson; and

WHEREAS, Floyd Nolan is survived by his second wife, Bernadine; his daughters, Cathleen (Harold) Ludolph, Sherrie Blasingim, and Paula Lutrell; his sons, Gerry (Betsy) Nolan and Bradley (Mary) Nolan; his stepdaughter, Drusilla (Robert) Stanard; 13 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, including Robbin Lynn Kost, who helped in his care; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Floyd L. Nolan, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Floyd Nolan as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
