| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of Sondra Lea Hecox, who passed away on | ||||||
| 4 | March 19, 2016; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Sondra Hecox was born on August 28, 1936 in | ||||||
| 6 | Clarion, Iowa; her parents were Irvin and Freda Harmon; she | ||||||
| 7 | married Dale Hecox on June 7, 1956; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Sondra Hecox attended Iowa State University in | ||||||
| 9 | Ames, Iowa and the American Business Institute; she later | ||||||
| 10 | worked for the City of Iowa City until her husband completed | ||||||
| 11 | his education; they then moved to Oak Park, where she worked as | ||||||
| 12 | Director of Personnel for the Sunbeam Corporation until her | ||||||
| 13 | first daughter was born, at which time she became a housewife; | ||||||
| 14 | they then moved to Elmhurst and then finally to Saint Charles | ||||||
| 15 | in 1988; and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Sondra Hecox loved the Republican Party and she | ||||||
| 17 | and her husband came to represent all that was best about the | ||||||
| 18 | Grand Old Party; senators, congressmen, and political leaders | ||||||
| 19 | all sought her counsel and approval; she was a tireless | ||||||
| 20 | Republican advocate and volunteer; she was an elected precinct | ||||||
| 21 | committeewoman for Saint Charles Township; she served as | ||||||
| 22 | secretary of the Kane County Republican Women's Organization; | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | she served at the Kane County Republican Headquarters for seven | ||||||
| 2 | years helping to organize fundraising events, where her | ||||||
| 3 | attention to detail and her ability to make every volunteer and | ||||||
| 4 | voter feel special; she and her husband also continued to walk | ||||||
| 5 | their neighborhood at election times when many people their age | ||||||
| 6 | would have retired; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, In 2004, Sondra Hecox and her husband were awarded | ||||||
| 8 | President George W. Bush's Crystal Award for their volunteer | ||||||
| 9 | efforts in Kane County; she was voted Kane County Republican of | ||||||
| 10 | the Year in 2004; in 2012, she and her husband were honored | ||||||
| 11 | with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Kane County | ||||||
| 12 | Republican Party; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Sondra Hecox loved gardening and landscaping; she | ||||||
| 14 | was a member of the Pottawatomie Garden Club and participated | ||||||
| 15 | in their shows and events; and | ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Sondra Hecox is survived by her loving husband, | ||||||
| 17 | Dale; her daughters, Sharon Grether and Susan Sherman; her | ||||||
| 18 | granddaughter; and her three grandsons; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 19 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 20 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her | ||||||
| 21 | family and friends, mourn the passing of Sondra Lea Hecox; and | ||||||
| 22 | be it further

| 1 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 2 | presented to the family of Sondra Hecox as an expression of our | ||||||
| 3 | sympathy.
