SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Henry "Hank" Offerman, who passed away on December 11, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Henry Offerman played basketball and graduated from Joliet Catholic High School; he then enlisted in the United States Army during World War II, where he was in the Philippines and Japan in the Pacific Theatre; after the war, he went back home to Joliet where he was a lifelong resident and met his lovely wife, Kathryn, whom he married in 1950; and

WHEREAS, Henry Offerman worked for Weber Dairy for 35 years during the early morning hours, delivering milk throughout Joliet and the surrounding areas; he also worked at the Wunderlich Granite Company, and at Olson/Troost Memorials where he worked as a Sales Manager; and

WHEREAS, Henry Offerman dedicated many years of service as a Eucharistic Minister at Holy Family Church; he also loved the Chicago Cubs and was a life-long member of the Old Timers Baseball Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars Cantigny Post #367, the Joliet Rivals Club, and the Joliet Moose 300 Club; and

WHEREAS, Henry Offerman enjoyed spending weekends at the Braidwood Recreation Club with his family, golfing, bowling, cribbage, and playing poker with his friends on Fridays; and

WHEREAS, Henry Offerman was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Clara (nee Schreiner) Offerman; his sons, Larry and Tom; and his siblings, Rita, Richard, and Ralph Offerman; and

WHEREAS, Henry Offerman was the devoted husband of Kathryn (nee Birkey) for 65 years; the caring father to Nancy (Mark) McMillin, Susan (Douglas) Gray, Douglas Offerman, Terrence (Pamila) Offerman, Timothy (Kelly) Offerman, Christopher (Kimberly) Offerman, and Gregory (Christine) Offerman; and the grandfather of Patrick (Abby) McMillin, Dan McMillin, Jeff McMillin, Eric (Erin) Gray, Paul (Charity) Offerman, Jennifer (Bob) Krahulic, Laury (Brandon) Schrader, Michael Gray, Stephanie (Lee) Clough, Bryan Offerman, Adam (Ally) Offerman, Alex Offerman, Chad Offerman, Neil Offerman, Zachary Offerman, Mathew Offerman, Christy Lynn, Ryan Offerman, Garret (Amanda) Offerman, and Sarah Offerman; he is also survived by many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Henry "Hank" Offerman; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Henry Offerman as an expression of our sympathy.
