SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Ann Rodenkirch Grabski of McHenry, who passed away on September 2, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Ann Grabski was born on September 7, 1921 in Johnston City; her parents were Anthony and Anna (nee Kowalis) Shalton; she married Hilary Rodenkirch on October 16, 1943 at St. Maurice Church in Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Ann Grabski was employed in food service at McHenry Hospital for 8 years; she also owned and operated the Pantry Deli on Riverside Drive for 15 years, where she worked with her husband; and

WHEREAS, Ann Grabski served as a Girl Scout leader; she was also a volunteer for the Red Cross and the Salvation Army and a member of the Women of the Moose Chapter 1348 and St. Mary's Catholic Church in McHenry, where she was a member of the Christian Mothers; and

WHEREAS, Ann Grabski enjoyed spending her summers in St. Germain, Wisconsin and traveling around the world; and

WHEREAS, Ann Grabski was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Hilary Rodenkirch; her second husband, Walter Grabski; and her brothers, Anthony and Chester Shalton; and

WHEREAS, Ann Grabski is survived by her children, Gerald (Anne) Rodenkirch and Sandra (Elmer) Gorham; her grandchildren, Debra (Patrick) Burns, Dawn (the late Mark) McMichael, James (Sonja) Gorham, Laura (Ken Klean) Schultz, and Brian (Sabina) Rodenkirch; and her great-grandchildren, Shannon, Louis, Zachary, Rachael, Camryn, and Caleb; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her family and friends, mourn the passing of Ann Rodenkirch Grabski; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ann Grabski as an expression of our sympathy.
