SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of  Leon R. Filas of Crystal Lake, who passed 
4away on March 17, 2015; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Leon Filas was born on February 21, 1922 in 
6Lublin, Wisconsin; his parents were Roman and Minnie Filas; he 
7married Mary Daniel on July 13, 1946 in Chicago; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Leon Filas was a proud veteran of the United 
9States Army, having served during World War II; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Leon Filas was a carpenter by trade; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Leon Filas was a lifelong member of St. Thomas the 
12Apostle Catholic Church and a member of the Chicago Veterans of 
13Foreign Wars; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, Leon Filas was preceded in death by his wife, 
15Mary; his parents; and numerous siblings; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, Leon Filas is survived by 3 sons, Wayne (Karen), 
17Glen, and Leon (Nancy); 3 grandchildren, Daniel Filas, Kevin 
18Filas, and Maryann (Aaron) Cashmore; 3 step-grandchildren, 
19Jennifer, Blake, and Bryan Lichthardt; a great-grandson,

1Paxton Cashmore; 4 siblings, Albert, Loretta, Leonard, and 
2Louie (Cathy); and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
  
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL 
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his 
5family and friends, mourn the passing of Leon R. Filas; and be 
6it further
  
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
8presented to the family of Leon Filas as an expression of our 
9sympathy.
