| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Jack A. Adams, Ph.D., who passed away on |
| 4 | | April 8, 2015; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Adams was born in Waukegan on September 9, |
| 6 | | 1931 to Alexander and Sophia Adams; after a distinguished high |
| 7 | | school academic and athletic career, he attended the University |
| 8 | | of Wisconsin, where he studied toward his undergraduate degree |
| 9 | | and lettered in baseball and basketball; while at Wisconsin, he |
| 10 | | was active in the Army ROTC and received a commission as an |
| 11 | | officer in the United States Army; he served in the Signal |
| 12 | | Corps, spending significant time in the Orient and Europe |
| 13 | | during his career; he resigned his commission in 1962; he |
| 14 | | remained active in the Army Reserve, attaining the rank of Lt. |
| 15 | | Colonel and was the presiding officer of the Waukegan Arsenal |
| 16 | | during the cold war era; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, At the conclusion of his Army career, Dr. Adams |
| 18 | | pursued his passion for higher education, attending Roosevelt |
| 19 | | University and Northwestern University, earning a Ph.D. in |
| 20 | | educational administration; during this time, he held |
| 21 | | associate and full professorships at both institutions; he also |
| 22 | | spearheaded efforts to fund and found the College of Lake |
| 23 | | County as President of the College of Lake County Association; |
