| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Rev. Roger H. Olson of Woodstock, who |
| 4 | | passed away on December 6, 2014; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Rev. Olson was born in Altona on November 5, 1928 |
| 6 | | to Harry and Ruth (nee Nelson) Olson; he served in the United |
| 7 | | States Air Force from 1954 to 1956, spending 20 months |
| 8 | | stationed in Nagoya, Japan; he married Diane Hidebrands on |
| 9 | | February 23, 1963; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Rev. Olson received a bachelor's degree in animal |
| 11 | | husbandry from Iowa State in 1954 and went on to a career in |
| 12 | | farming in the Altona area and in McHenry County; he received a |
| 13 | | Master of Divinity from Augustana College and went on to serve |
| 14 | | in many churches; he served as pastor at Redeemer Lutheran |
| 15 | | Church, Centralia, from 1966 until 1971; as pastor at Nativity |
| 16 | | Lutheran Church, Wonder Lake, 1971-1994; as interim pastor at |
| 17 | | Trinity Lutheran Church, Harvard, 1994-1995; as interim pastor |
| 18 | | at Salem Lutheran Church, Sycamore, 1995; as associate pastor |
| 19 | | and interim pastor at Light of Christ, Algonquin, 1995-2000; |
| 20 | | and as interim pastor at Grace Lutheran Church, Woodstock, |
| 21 | | 2001-2002; and
|
| 22 | | WHEREAS, Rev. Olson was preceded in death by his wife, |
