SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The people of Chicago, the State of Illinois, and 
3the country witnessed the Jackie Robinson West Little League 
4team win the Little League World Series national title in the 
5summer of 2014; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, On February 11, 2015, Little League International 
7rescinded Jackie Robinson West's title due to reports of 
8impropriety among the adults who organize and run the team; and
  
 


  
9    WHEREAS, The children who play for Jackie Robinson West 
10should not be punished because of actions taken by adults; 
11therefore, be it
  
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL 
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we urge Little League 
14International to rescind the decision to strip the Jackie 
15Robinson West Little League team of its 2014 United States 
16Championship; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That we urge Little League International to 
18rigorously investigate the other teams that play in the Little 
19League tournament as thoroughly as Jackie Robinson West was; 
20and be it further

1    RESOLVED, That we urge Little League International to come 
2to Chicago and speak with the parents of the Jackie Robinson 
3West players who they have not spoken to; and be it further
 
4    RESOLVED, That we urge Little League International to 
5respond with an answer in writing to the attorneys that are 
6requesting an  investigation of the other Little League teams; 
7and be it further
  
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
9delivered to Little League International.
