| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate and the House |
| 3 | | of Representatives recognize the Ansar Shriners' 100th |
| 4 | | anniversary on July 13, 2015; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, The Illinois Ansar Shriners was chartered on July |
| 6 | | 13, 1915 by action of the Annual Session of the Ancient Arabic |
| 7 | | Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine (now Shriners |
| 8 | | International) and became the 136th chapter of the fraternity; |
| 9 | | and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, The Ansar Shriners of Springfield is one of 5 |
| 11 | | Shrine Centers in Illinois; it is the 17th largest of the 193 |
| 12 | | Shrine Centers throughout the world; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, The members of Ansar Shriners exemplify the |
| 14 | | Masonic tenets of Faith, Hope, and Charity; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Ansar is taken after the Arabic word meaning |
| 16 | | "Those Who Give Aid", which Ansar Nobles do through their |
| 17 | | support of the 19 Shriners Hospitals for Children, which |
| 18 | | provide orthopedic care, and 3 hospitals that provide pediatric |
| 19 | | burn treatment; treatment is provided at the hospitals |
| 20 | | regardless of the families' ability to pay for services; and
|

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Over the past 100 years, Shriners have been active |
| 2 | | throughout central Illinois in parades, festivals, paper |
| 3 | | crusades, and membership initiation ceremonies; and
|
| 4 | | WHEREAS, The Ansar Shriners will celebrate the |
| 5 | | organization's 100th anniversary with a year of public events, |
| 6 | | including parades, membership initiations, the Shrine Circus, |
| 7 | | and events at numerous festivals and homecomings throughout the |
| 8 | | State, concluding with a 100th year celebration on July 18, |
| 9 | | 2015 in Springfield; therefore, be it
|
| 10 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL |
| 11 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES |
| 12 | | CONCURRING HEREIN, that we designate July 13, 2015 as Ansar |
| 13 | | Shriners of Springfield Day in the State of Illinois; and be it |
| 14 | | further
|
| 15 | | RESOLVED, That we recognize the success and dedicated |
| 16 | | service of the Ansar Shriners on the occasion of the |
| 17 | | organization's 100th anniversary; and be it further
|
| 18 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 19 | | presented to the Ansar Shriners of Springfield.
