HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to honor  Hinsdale Police Department 
4Officer Lou Hayes for his courageous actions in saving the life 
5of an injured construction worker; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Officer Lou Hayes was patrolling the northeast 
7part of the Village of Hinsdale when a report came in of an 
8injured construction worker at the nearby intersection of 
9County Line Road and Walnut Street in Hinsdale; arriving at the 
10scene, he found that the worker had been accidentally rolled 
11over by a pavement grinder and his right leg was almost 
12completely amputated below the knee; knowing that the Hinsdale 
13Fire Department's ambulance was still minutes away, Officer 
14Hayes placed a tourniquet on the man's leg to stem the loss of 
15blood and provide comfort until help arrived; Officer Hayes was 
16soon relieved and the man survived; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, For his heroic actions, Officer Lou Hayes was 
18presented with the Hinsdale Police Department's Lifesaving 
19Award during the Hinsdale Village Board's meeting on August 18, 
202015; and

  
 
21    WHEREAS, Officer Lou Hayes serves as a model of hard work, 
22integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of

1Illinois; therefore, be it
  
 
2    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
3NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
4honor Hinsdale Police Department Officer Lou Hayes for his 
5courageous actions in saving the life of an injured 
6construction worker and wish him continued success and 
7happiness in the future; and be it further
  
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
9presented to Officer Lou Hayes as a symbol of our esteem and 
10respect.
