| 2 | | WHEREAS, It has long been a universal goal to eliminate |
| 3 | | traffic accidents and traffic fatalities; and
|
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Data has indicated that many traffic accidents are |
| 5 | | a direct result of poor peripheral binocular vision and glare |
| 6 | | from road and car reflections; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Correcting vision problems of drivers is an |
| 8 | | attainable goal; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, The minimum requirement for visual acuity is 20/40 |
| 10 | | acuity, with or without corrective lenses; drivers with acuity |
| 11 | | between 20/41 and 20/70 are limited to daylight driving only; |
| 12 | | drivers must also have at least 140 degree peripheral vision |
| 13 | | (the ability to see to the side) to have a license without |
| 14 | | restrictions; this requirement is with or without corrective |
| 15 | | lenses; therefore, be it

| 16 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 17 | | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 18 | | encourage all drivers in the State of Illinois to get annual |
| 19 | | eye exams to insure that they are able to drive safely; and be |
| 20 | | it further
