HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate  Robert "Bob" Buhs on the 
4occasion of his retirement as Executive Director of the 
5Illinois Fire Chiefs Association; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Robert Buhs was born on May 8, 1954 in Chicago; 
7and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Robert Buhs earned his Bachelor's Degree in Fire 
9Science Management from Southern Illinois University in 1986; 
10he subsequently earned his Master's Degree in Public 
11Administration from Governors State University in 2003; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, Robert Buhs had a long and distinguished career in 
13firefighting; he began his career as a volunteer firefighter 
14for the Palos Fire Protection District in 1969; in 1973, he 
15joined the Orland Fire Protection District as a volunteer; in 
161977, he became a full-time Firefighter/Paramedic with the 
17Orland Fire Protection District, where he steadily rose through 
18the ranks, with promotions to the ranks of Lieutenant in 1980, 
19Deputy Chief in 1986, and Chief in 1988; he retired from the 
20Orland Fire Protection District in 2003; and
  
 
21    WHEREAS, Following his retirement from the Orland Fire

1Protection District, Robert Buhs served as Executive Director 
2of the Illinois Fire Chiefs Association from 2003 until his 
3retirement in 2014; and
  
 
4    WHEREAS, Robert Buhs enjoys bird hunting, skeet shooting, 
5and trap shooting; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Robert Buhs married his loving wife, Jennie, on 
7September 8, 1974 and has 2 children, Gina and Beau, and 2 
8grandchildren, Ava and Owen; therefore, be it
  
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
10NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
11congratulate Robert "Bob" Buhs on the occasion of his 
12retirement and wish him continued success and happiness in the 
13future; and be it further
  
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
15presented to Robert Buhs as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
