| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency | ||||||
| 3 | provides state-of-the-art intelligence to policymakers, the | ||||||
| 4 | military, intelligence professionals, and first responders; | ||||||
| 5 | and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Many of the National Geospatial-Intelligence | ||||||
| 7 | Agency's missions, such as GPS monitoring and aeronautical | ||||||
| 8 | safety of navigation, are conducted from the St. Louis region | ||||||
| 9 | facility; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, According to the National Geospatial-Intelligence | ||||||
| 11 | Agency, anyone who sails a United States ship, flies a United | ||||||
| 12 | States aircraft, makes national policy decisions, fights wars, | ||||||
| 13 | locates targets, responds to natural disasters, or even | ||||||
| 14 | navigates with a cell phone relies on the National | ||||||
| 15 | Geospatial-Intelligence Agency; and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency plans | ||||||
| 17 | to build a new campus in the St. Louis/Metro East region by | ||||||
| 18 | 2021; the new campus is estimated to generate 3,000 jobs; and | ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, According to the National Geospatial-Intelligence | ||||||
| 20 | Agency, the St. Louis/Metro East region is critical to the | ||||||
| 21 | agency's mission and long-term vision for geospatial | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | intelligence; and
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency is | ||||||
| 3 | considering 4 potential locations for the campus, Fenton, | ||||||
| 4 | Missouri, Mehlville, Missouri, a location in the northern | ||||||
| 5 | portion of St. Louis, Missouri, and St. Clair County, Illinois; | ||||||
| 6 | and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, The St. Clair County location serves as the most | ||||||
| 8 | logical and best location as it serves as the only location | ||||||
| 9 | adjacent to a military base (Scott Air Force Base) and a major | ||||||
| 10 | Interstate, Interstate 64; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 11 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 12 | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 13 | urge the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency to build its | ||||||
| 14 | new campus at the St. Clair County, Illinois location, adjacent | ||||||
| 15 | to Scott Air Force Base; and be it further
| ||||||
| 16 | RESOLVED, That we welcome the National | ||||||
| 17 | Geospatial-Intelligence Agency to the State of Illinois and the | ||||||
| 18 | estimated 3,000 jobs it will bring to the State; and be it | ||||||
| 19 | further | ||||||
| 20 | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be | ||||||
| 21 | delivered to the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, the | ||||||

| 2 | President Barack Obama, and the members of the Illinois | ||||||
