| 1 | | AN ACT concerning public aid.

| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Public Aid Code is amended by |
| 5 | | adding Section 12-4.7f as follows:
|

| 7 | | Sec. 12-4.7f. Death records information. At least once each |
| 8 | | calendar month, the Department of Human Services shall |
| 9 | | cross-reference its roster of public aid recipients with the |
| 10 | | death records information from the Department of Public Health |
| 11 | | residing on the Electronic Data Warehouse at the Department of |
| 12 | | Healthcare and Family Services. A public aid recipient who is |
| 13 | | found to have a death record shall be subject to an immediate |
| 14 | | cancelation of his or her public aid benefits, including the |
| 15 | | deactivation of his or her LINK card, in instances where there |
| 16 | | are no other individuals receiving benefits in that assistance |
| 17 | | unit and upon
certification that the identity of the public aid |
| 18 | | recipient matches the identity
of the person named in the death |
| 19 | | certificate. As used in this Section, "LINK
card" means the |
| 20 | | electronic benefits transfer card issued by the Department of |
| 21 | | Human Services for the purpose of enabling a user of the card |
| 22 | | to obtain Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) |
| 23 | | benefits or cash.
