SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Shamiya Shante Adams of Chicago, who 
4passed away on July 19, 2014; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Shamiya Adams was born on March 11, 2003 to Willie 
6Jermaine Adams and Shaneetha Marie Goodloe; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, Shamiya Adams was an energetic, happy, playful, 
8smart, and loving daughter who loved family gatherings and 
9dancing; she loved to help her mother around the house and 
10spending time with her grandmother who affectionately 
11nicknamed her "Queen"; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, Shamiya Adams enjoyed playing with her friends; 
13she loved school and was always volunteering to participate in 
14activities; her most recent activity was the Penny Drive in 
15which she helped raise funds to get new books for the library; 
16she was also a volunteer babysitter at the school where she 
17would assist with babysitting kindergartners; and
  
 
  
18    WHEREAS, Shamiya Adams is survived by her mother, 
19Shaneetha; father, Willie; brothers, Jaquan, Jalante, Jermiah 
20(twin brother), and Jamarion; 2 sisters, Jaleeya and Jamiyah; 5 
21aunts, Tierra, Akalia, Erika, Tiffany, and Tarhonda; 2 uncles,

1Akmed and Johnathan; 2 grandmothers, Audrey and Nanette; 2 
2grandfathers, Roger and Eric; 2 great-grandmothers, Lourene 
3and Ollie; one great-grandfather, Singleton; step-father, 
4Taurus; and a host of other aunts, uncles, cousins, and 
5friends; therefore, be it
  
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL 
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
8Shamiya Shante Adams, and extend our sincere condolences to her 
9family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it 
10further
  
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
12presented to  the family of  Shamiya Adams as an expression of 
13our deepest sympathy.
