SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Dolores M. Klein of West Peoria, who passed away on June 18, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Dolores Klein was born on May 30, 1927 in Peoria to Thomas and Hazel Fosbender Gibson; she married Edward Joseph Klein in Peoria on May 17, 1952; and

WHEREAS, Dolores Klein worked in the home raising her children; she and her husband also took in foster children for many years; and

WHEREAS, Dolores Klein was active in women's rights groups all of her life, and, in 2010, she was inducted into the Women's National Hall of Fame; she was past-President of the National Organization for Women and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, both in the local Peoria chapters; she was also very involved in the "Clothes Line Project", a national movement helping woman heal emotionally from domestic violence; she was a member of the Universalist Unitarian Church in Peoria; and

WHEREAS, Dolores Klein was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Ann Klein; one son, Christopher Klein; 3 brothers; and one grandson, William Klein; and

WHEREAS, Dolores Klein is survived by her husband of 62 years, Edward Joseph Klein; her 5 children, Tina (Patrick) Puntoni, Paula Klein, Timothy (Deborah) Klein, Evan Klein, and Martin (Barbara) Klein; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and 3 brothers, John (Camille) Gibson, David Gibson, and Patrick Gibson; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Dolores M. Klein, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dolores Klein as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
