| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Dolores M. Klein of West Peoria, who |
| 4 | | passed away on June 18, 2014; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Dolores Klein was born on May 30, 1927 in Peoria |
| 6 | | to Thomas and Hazel Fosbender Gibson; she married Edward Joseph |
| 7 | | Klein in Peoria on May 17, 1952; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Dolores Klein worked in the home raising her |
| 9 | | children; she and her husband also took in foster children for |
| 10 | | many years; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Dolores Klein was active in women's rights groups |
| 12 | | all of her life, and, in 2010, she was inducted into the |
| 13 | | Women's National Hall of Fame; she was past-President of the |
| 14 | | National Organization for Women and the National Association |
| 15 | | for the Advancement of Colored People, both in the local Peoria |
| 16 | | chapters; she was also very involved in the "Clothes Line |
| 17 | | Project", a national movement helping woman heal emotionally |
| 18 | | from domestic violence; she was a member of the Universalist |
| 19 | | Unitarian Church in Peoria; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Dolores Klein was preceded in death by one |
| 21 | | daughter, Mary Ann Klein; one son, Christopher Klein; 3 |
